Subject: Acceptance of Gifts from Whittier Elementary School PTA

Background According to Board Policy 8.80, the Board, on the recommendation of the Superintendent, must accept all gifts individuals or organizations contribute to the District.

Summary: Whittier PTA funded the following activities/programs for the benefit of the students and staff of the school: Adventure Day, conference dinners, admissions and buses for field trips, fifth grade end-of-year recognitions/activities, ice cream social, reflections, staff appreciation, teacher grants/stipends, and directory spot. The total cost of the aforementioned items is $21,784.04. By donating and/or sponsoring these activities/programs, Whittier PTA transfers ownership of the items and relinquishes to District 200 the responsibility for maintenance, repair, insurance and any liability incurred in the use of the items donated.

Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Education accept the gifts from Whittier PTA as presented.
