Background: Executive Order 2020-31 and ISBE emergency rules suspended certain statutory graduation requirement minimums to allow local districts to modify or reduce their local graduation requirements such that students scheduled to graduate in 2020, who through no fault of their own, were unable to complete certain graduation requirements due to the suspension of in-person instruction.
File Attachment:
Summary: Community Unit School District 200 Board of Education Policy 6:300 Graduation Requirements requires students to have 24 credits to graduate from high school. Executive Order 2020-31 allows local boards of education to amend policies to reduce any local graduation requirements. The administration is recommending that the Board of Education provide flexibility by requiring the class of 2020 to earn a minimum of 20.5 credits to graduate. The minimum number of credits that are usually needed to graduate as mandated by the State of Illinois is 16.75.
