Subject: Approval of Lowell Schoolwide Title I Plan
Vision 2022:
Learning Support Systems
Implement a school improvement system for support and coordination between core instruction and interventions. (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support MTSS)
Background: Prior to 2018, any Title I School with less than 40% of the school population is identified as low income had to use the Targeted Assistance delivery model. This means that Title I funds could only be used on targeted students. The regulations have since been made more flexible so that schools with low income percentages between 20% and 40% have the opportunity to apply for a waiver to operate under the Schoolwide delivery system. This allows all students in the school to access Title I resources. Lowell School, with 32% free and reduced has spent this year planning, applying for this waiver and developing this Schoolwide Plan. This Schoolwide Plan now required approval by the Board of Education.
