Subject: Approval of a Resolution Authorizing Transfer of Utilities to the City of Wheaton

Policy:
Background: The water main and four fire hydrants that service Edison Middle School are currently owned and maintained by the school district. All maintenance and issues related to this service are paid for by the school district. The district approached the City of Wheaton to see if they would be interested in taking ownership of the system, which they agreed to do.

Summary: The attached resolution and affidavit was prepared by district counsel, and allows for the transfer of ownership from the school district to the City of Wheaton. By doing so the City of Wheaton would be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the system.

Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the Resolution Authorizing Transfer of Utilities to the City of Wheaton.
