Continue to ensure a balanced budget that builds and maintains a fund balance that meets Board policy.

Policy:
4.120 - Food Services
Background:
Regulations require Districts participating in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) to ensure sufficient funds are provided to the nonprofit school food service account for meals served to students not eligible for free or reduced price meals. One way to meet this requirement is through prices charged for paid meals. The purpose of this requirement, Paid Lunch Equity (PLE), is to increase paid meal prices to be more equal with funds brought in from free and reduced-price meal reimbursements.

Summary:
In order to comply with the PLE requirement for the NSLP (K-8), the District needs to increase the paid lunch price from $2.75 to $3.00 for the 2019-2020 school year. This new price is in line with our surrounding benchmark districts.
